• Open Access

    for everyone

Hello, thank you for visiting Open Accessibility
Initiative (OAI). OAI dedicates a majority of time analyzing
and coming up with solutions to help facilitate travel
experiences for people living with disabilities.

Our Mission

Open Access is an initiative created by a group of individuals interested in facilitating travel for people living with disabilities.

How we plan to reach our goal?

We plan to reach our goal by simply creating and sharing a large database of accessible environments in frequently traveled cities. We will accomplish this by physically entering facilities and gathering the specifications that make a facility accessible.

Why is this important to us?

Because as a fellow traveler we feel that everyone should have the right to enjoy traveling, including the ease of information accessible to travelers. Currently finding information on the best hostel, most accommodating hotel, the best view or even the best continental breakfast is so easy to find. website blast their cheap prices directly to our emails on a regular basis. However, information on accessibility to a location is still limited.  People are left having to call, email and that can sometimes be a waste of time. OA believes that if the need for information about anything that facilitates life is out there then it should be shared.

Accessibility refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both "direct access" (i.e. unassisted) and "indirect access" meaning compatibility with a person's assistive technology
